Dental veneers can be an excellent cosmetic solution for stained, chipped, or slightly misaligned teeth
The benefits are primarily cosmetic, but in some cases, they are used as part of other dental treatments to treat other dental problems.
Did you know that there is more than one type of veneer? Porcelain, Composite, and Lumineers are the main kind offered by dentists, each with its unique offerings.
At Sani Dental Group, we want our patients to know all of their options before making a smile-changing decision.
If you are not familiar with the different types of veneers and the characteristics of all the different kinds, here is everything you need to know to find out which treatment is right for you.
What veneer type is best?
Porcelain veneers
Porcelain has long been used in dental restorations mainly for its esthetic results, as it matches the natural color of the patient's teeth, giving a natural aspect.
Among the main characteristics are:
- They provide a permanent solution
- Stain-resistant
- They are strong, less chance of fracture or detachment
- They do not cause injuries to the gum tissue or surrounding teeth.
- Long-lasting.
About the procedure: Porcelain Veneers in Mexico
In the initial consultation with the dentist, it is very important to communicate the results you wish to obtain with the procedure to the dentist.
Most of the time, the dentist will request x-rays and then discuss the best treatment option.
The very thin porcelain layers are bonded to the anterior aspect of the teeth. They require some shaving of the teeth to allow space for the new teeth.
After reshaping the tooth surface, a mold of the tooth is made and sent to a dental laboratory to create the veneer.
At Sani Dental Group, we have our in-house laboratory.
This is the main advantage for patients when receiving veneers in Mexico, since normally when sent to an outside lab the procedure can take up to 2-4 weeks. In our clinic, it can be completed in only 4 days.
When they are ready for placement, the dentist checks the fit and color of the new teeth and prepares the tooth (or teeth) by cleaning and polishing the tooth surface to allow for a strong bond.
The layer is bonded to the tooth with special cement, ultraviolet light is used to harden it quickly.
Veneers Cost Mexico
Another great advantage of receiving porcelain veneers in Mexico is the cost. This is one of the most expensive cosmetic procedures.
In the United States, they are at least $1,000 per tooth. And in most cases, it is not a procedure that is covered by insurance because it is considered an elective cosmetic treatment.
At Sani Dental Group, each porcelain veneers cost $350 Usd.
Zirconia Dental veneers in Mexico
Zirconia is a material used in restorative procedures, mainly in crowns because of its resistance to fractures.
This type of ceramic material has a non-metallic color and is manufactured in different shades, allowing the patient to choose a color that matches the rest of the teeth.
In some cases, zirconia is even combined with a porcelain finish to make a resistant and aesthetic result.
Among the main characteristics are:
- Strong and resistant material
- Long-lasting
- Stable and durable
- They can also be used in back teeth
- Comfort solution
- The zirconia veneer treatment is similar to that of porcelain veneers, and like porcelain veneers, the processing time is 4 days.
Zirconia veneers are a little more expensive because of the strength of the material. This type of veneer has a cost in the United States between $1,500 -2,000 dollars each.
At Sani Dental Group, the price for zirconia veneers is $450 Usd.
Lumineers Teeth
A different brand of veneers is offered by some dentists. In recent months, they have gained popularity, as this type requires less preparation than previous ones.
But just because it requires less preparation does not mean it is the best option.
They are recommended for when the patient wants minor dental work, but not for when they want a smile makeover.
Main differences between veneers and lumineers
- Unlike porcelain or zirconia, they are made of ultra-thin laminate.
- Thinner and a bit more translucent
- Do not require preparation or trimming of natural teeth
- Do not last as long as traditional veneers
- Not as good at addressing various dental problems
- Another important thing to mention is that for patients who want to close a diastema (a wide gap between teeth) without using braces, the traditional veneer procedure is recommended.
Lumineers cost Mexico
The cost between this procedure and the previous ones does not vary much. Lumineers normally cost between $1000-2000 dollars per tooth.
