Rosca de Reyes

Every January 6, a celebration occurs in which a delicious round or oval shape pastry traditionally is eaten to celebrate Epiphany. Sani Dental Group invites you to gather with your family and love ones and enjoy a delicious Rosca de Reyes (King’s Ring), spend time with your love ones and get the young ones ready for the visit of the 3 wise man.

Rosca de Reyes Tradition

The celebration of Epiphany involves getting the family and friends together, enjoying a meal and of the Rosca de Reyes. The Rosca de Reyes as we mention is a sweet round or oval shape pastry, decorated with slices of fruit, figs, quinces, cherries and a trinket.

There are several meanings associated with this celebration, but one of the most important meaning is the remembrance of Epiphany.

Epiphany is a Christian belief that celebrates and commemorates the revelation of God’s son in his physical manifestation to the gentiles as Jesus Christ. In addition to remembering Jesus Christ, the epiphany feast commemorates the visit of the Magi or Wise Man (Balthazar, Melchior and Caspar). We recommend you to add hot chocolate when eating, this will enhance the Rosca de Reyes flavor.

The Rosca de Reyes not only will it have a great flavor, but also have a special trinket that represent Jesus Christ. Now, if you find the trinket then two things will occur; on one end blessing will set upon your home and on the other hand the person who finds the baby Jesus, should put the house for a party on Candlemas Day (February 02).

On Candlemas Day your guest will be able to consume tamales and other Mexican appetizers, spend time with love ones and enjoy the delights made by the home owner.

For Sani Dental Group the Rosca de Reyes is a special event that can bring many families together. For the city of Los Algodenes this event is very important, the city is holding an event to remember the tradition. You can read and know all the events Los Algodones are having in our post: Los Algodones 2015 Events.

For our dental clinic your oral health is our priority and spending time with your love ones. The Rosca de Reyes celebration has several meanings, but the main purpose is to remember Jesus Christ, the Wise Man and the sacrifices that have been made.
