Full Mouth Restoration - How it Improve Smiles

In a recent post, The Many options Full Mouth Restoration Offers, we told our readers what a Full Mouth Restoration is and the many treatment options that are available. In this post, we will go more in depth with each option and explain the benefits each offers.

Yes, the main goal of these treatments is to re-establish that smile you once lost, but the method may vary from one patient to another.

In Los Algodones, there are more than 300 clinics and each clinic has their own method when performing a Full Mouth Restoration. This post will only talk about the methods Sani Dental Group performs, not methods performed in any other clinic Los Algodones offers.

Full Mouth Restoration – Sani Dental Group Method

Full Mouth Restoration is a term our dentists and patient coordinators use to describe dental procedures that help to rebuild/restore teeth in both the patient upper and lower jaws. After setting your appointment with Sani Dental Group, our patient will come to Los Algodones and prepare to restore their smile.

First, our patient will be diagnosed by a professional in a separate room. Here, one of our professionals will enter and have a more personal interaction with the patient. Explaining the Full Mouth Restoration options that are at his disposal. Your options include:

  • Dental Implants
  • Dental Bridge
  • Dental Dentures
  • Dental Crowns
  • All on program

Before we performed one of the above options, your dentists will recommend a deep cleaning. This procedure is useful because it will remove any infections that could be located in the patients’ mouth and it will indicate the sensitivity level the patient has. This will help your dentist determine if sedation will be required and what procedure will best fit the patient. Now let’s see how each Full Mouth Restoration option is performed.

Full Mouth Restoration – Steps and Procedures

After being diagnosed, several “initial procedures” might need to be done. These procedures will shape your jaw bone and prepare your jaw for the restoration. Below is a list of procedures that might be needed, please note that each case is different and you might not need all these “initial procedures”. We will refer to these “initial procedures” as Phase I in this post.

Phase II will refer to the recovery time needed after the “initial procedures” have been finished. To speed-up recovery time, your dentist might recommend a specific dental procedure, depending on the procedure the patient has done.

Final Phase will refer to the last stage of your treatment, the dental procedures that will be done after your jaw has been re-shape and recovered.

Dental Implants

Phase I

Extractions: Any tooth that is too damaged or could interrupt the restoration process will be extracted – pull-out.

Alveoplasty: This is a dental surgery that smooths the jawbone. This procedure is usually done at the same time that the extraction is performed, as this will reduce the risk of future complications.

Bone Graft: This dental procedure is done, to reinforce the jaw bone and strengthen the area where the implant will be placed.

Sinus Lift: This dental surgery adds bone graft to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. This procedure is used to strengthen the area where the implant will be placed.

Phase II

Laser Therapy: The dentist will recommend this procedure to speed-up the recovery process and prevent oral infections.

Final Phase

Dental Implants: Dental implants are the best solution to replace missing teeth. A dental implant will have the same strength and stability as a natural tooth. In addition to looking and feeling like a natural tooth.

Dental Bridge

Removable Dentures

Torus Surgery: This procedure will be performed to remove any abnormal bone growth discovered after the extraction.

Final Phase

With Sani Dental Group you have the following denture options:

Temporal Denture: This type of denture are flexible, affordable and can be removed on a daily basis. They are placed immediately after the teeth have been extracted.

Snap-On Denture: This snap-on procedure is similar to a permanent denture that means they go over dental implants. An additional attribute that this denture offers is its removal.

Now that the dentures have been placed, it’s time to recover.

Dental Crowns

Phase I

Root Canal: A dental treatment in which an inflamed, infected, or dead tooth root is removed.  This procedure focuses on repairing and saving the patient’s tooth.

Final Phase

After treating infected teeth, it’s time to place the crown. What is a dental crown?

Crowns: A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap. The crown is used to support a broken or weakens tooth, to cover a misshaped tooth, to cover severely discolored teeth, to cover a dental implant, or to make other cosmetic modifications.
